ALBUM // The Suicide of Western Culture

They’re From Barcelona. Their self-titled album, however, was recorded in a London hostel. Their stated influences are post-rock bands of the 1990s and early aughts such as Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, and Tortoise. The songs are built to the structures and orientations of post-rock but composed with synthesizers and drum machines from the 1980s, giving pieces from the album a textural feel that mixes early Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark with early Warp artists.

Lead track “This Is The Last Time I Shake Your Hand” combines appropriately soaring organ with a wicked bass drop.

The Suicide of Western Culture was released by the Irregular Label and is curiously hard to find, except perhaps here.
