EP // Meeting House – The Hands of a Hideous Giant, ACT II

Well, that was fast.

Just earlier this month we discussed the first part of Meeting House’s Hands series, and now we can hear eight more tracks that expand on the Elliot Smith and indie rock-soaked sound to include…well, more things from the nineties: it’s easy to imagine “Holding On To Summertime” being a hit for the Eels in 1998, (released on an album where it would be followed by “Lady”) while the saxophones of “My Body, I Believe You” put it between Mutations and Midnite Vultures. The other songs hew closer to the previous established distortion-and-banjos formula (a description that sells it short) but they’re all of a high quality. Combined the two EP’s form an impressive full length and it’ll be interesting to see if Meeting House has an ACT III in store between now and January.

You can get The Hands of a Hideous Giant, ACT II on a pay-what-you-will basis on Meeting House’s Bandcamp page.
